Marco Perego: Art

Born in Vimercate (MI), Marco Perego works in Los Angeles, where he lives with his wife and their three children. His artistic practice is driven by a deep interest in transformation and transcendence. Perego’s work responds to the turbulence of contemporary life, seeking to spark conversations about the constant changes unfolding both in the world around us and within ourselves.

His works have been exhibited internationally at institutions including the Michele Maccarone Gallery in New York and Los Angeles, the Museum of Modern Art in Bologna, the National Archaeological Museum in Florence, the Rennie Museum in Vancouver, The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, and Untilthen in Paris. His work is also held in major public collections, such as Museo Jumex in Mexico City, the Rennie Museum in Vancouver, the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, and the Pinault Collection in Paris.

Perego recently completed writing and directing his first feature film, The Absence of Eden, produced by Martin Scorsese. The screenplay has been acquired by the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures as part of its permanent collection.

In 2024, he participated in the Venice Biennale as part of the Vatican Pavilion, and his short film DOVECOTE was shortlisted for the Academy Awards. That same film was also presented at the Palais Populaire. In 2025, his installation THE BEING was presented at the Capsule of the Centre Pompidou-Metz. That year, Perego was honored by The Drawing Center in New York and invited by Philippe Parreno to collaborate on the Manchester Factory International, curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist.

In 2026, following his exhibition at Jeffrey Deitch, Centre Pompidou-Metz—an institution that selects one artist annually for a focused collaboration—will present a project developed in partnership with Marco Perego.

As part of this collaboration, the artist will introduce a limited-edition LP at the museum. The LP functions as a physical artifact documenting the collaboration between Marco Perego and Invisible Mountain for The Being, a work exhibited at Centre Pompidou-Metz in 2025.

Invisible Mountain is a multidisciplinary collective of creative practitioners working at the intersection of art, philosophy, science, and technology, dedicated to expanding the boundaries of sound and visual perception. The collective was founded by Nicolas Becker, Lexx, and Stephen Christian.

Central to this collaboration is the exploration of a singular sonic and sensory experience, grounded in notions of continuous transformation and a shared consciousness that transcends the temporal limits of an individual human life.

In parallel, the artist will also present a publication released by Éditions Dilecta, 365 Drawings: One Drawing a Day for Healing Yourself, which will be made available this year.Marco Perego in the last year is also deeply active in the production of prestigious auteur films. At this pivotal historical moment, marked by the emergence of new technologies, he is committed to protecting and preserving cultural expression.

His work supports major cinematic voices such as Andrey Zvyagintsev, Carlos Reygadas, Lucrecia Martel, Philippe Parreno , James Gray, Kantemir Balagov and Cristian Mungiu.

For the artist, safeguarding these important voices and actively supporting them is essential.
